About Couple Therapy

Dr Sue Johnson talks about Attachment & EFT (Emotionally Focussed Therapy):

Attachment science offers us the most potent model for therapeutic change, especially when dealing with anxiety and depression, and that, of all models of intervention, EFT most closely captures the essence of the attachment perspective. It targets the defining feature of survival-oriented human connection, namely strong emotion, and systematically shapes core bonding interactions with others.

Lisa trained in EFT through ICEEFT, the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, in Canada. ICEEFT was founded in 1998 by Dr. Sue Johnson and her colleagues in Toronto, Canada.

Lisa also trained in other modalities in couple work including Imago, and Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic work through Tavistock Relationships.

Lisa is also influenced by her training in the Conversational Model, Somatic Psychotherapy, and the work and research of PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy).
